Im trying to figure out how its possible for Dwayna's Kiss to heal for that much... There is only so much hexes and enchants in the game...
This is the healing build I normally run for DoA:
WoH (emergency heal)
Healing Whisper (cheap heal against light pressure)
Jamei's Gaze (good for catching spikes)
Signet of Rejuvenation (free heal)
Orison (selfheal)
I prefer running a ZB prot build though.

Light of Deliverance, Spell Breaker, Life Barrier, Protective Spirit, Dwayna's Kiss, Shield of Absorption, and Reversal of Fortune have been the most important DoA skills in my experience (across a variety of strategies).
Peace,

Interesting. Do you usually play in a 3 monk team, or do you have a monk secondary running LoD?

I play exclusively in two Monk teams, and sometimes one of them runs Light of Deliverance.

From what I hear, Weapon of Quickening on a support character+obs flesh tank is the way to go, which makes dwayna's kiss kind of irrelevant.

How does dwayna's kiss become irrelevant with an obs flesh tank?
Also in response to the OP, I had success with this build in the Stygian area until I got d/c when deep in the area:
Ethereal Light
Dwayna's Kiss
Dismiss Condition (but I think Mend Condition would have worked better)
Protective Spirit
Heal Party
Glyph of Lesser E
Healers Boon {E}
Rebirth
An optional skill to fit in would be Healing Seed, but I don't think it's that necessary.
The build was meant for a Stygian team running an Obs Tank under the effect of Symbiosis in order to combat life stealing enemies. Healer's Boon with Dwayna's Kiss would generally heal for 800-1000 per use. Prot spirit was there mostly to protect allies if aggro broke and to make temporary tanks in emergency situations. I'm sure there's room for improvement, but I haven't gotten as much time to play in the area with my monk as I would like due to finals. =/

Obs Flesh tanks don't need any healing unless Obsidian Flesh goes down and you start getting stripped and hex stacked.

Ah, I must have misread. I was under the assumption that you were using all those skills in the same team build.

Interesting build but how could you be running with 2 elites on your bar or is it Life Bond and not Barrier.I prefer Bond.

That was a list of skills that you should think about running in DoA, not a build people. Reading is key.

Are you talking about in the Stygian area? If so I'd like to know how an Obs Flesh tank can negate any life stealing from the touch skills Stygian Hungers use.

breeze + obs flesh tanks = teh wins in DoA!
oi
@random.name, base heal + df + hex AND enchants, chances are theres a prot monk throwing enchants around, and maybe they have their own. 2-3 hex stacks are pretty common [barring removal] without an overabundance of n/me/e mobs and when there are more than usual you see outrageous heals like that guy mentioned.

I would have thought Spirit Bond would be mandatory?
Or does the damage outweigh the healing it provides?

Spirit Bond might help, but I don't think it's enough by itself since the enemies do so much damage. You'd have to combine it with Prot Spirit to make it really effective, and PS might be enough when pair with other sources of healing. Having to cast two 10e spells on everyone taking damage is probably too energy intensive unless you have a dedicated BiP or something along those lines.

If you're talking about the massive packs of those in the beginning, you kite them in circles like everyone else while wanding them down. Bring Ward v. Foes if you insist on bringing skills to help with those mobs.
If you're talking about the one solitary toucher later on in the area, that damage is incidentally cleaned up by whatever heals you happened to bring. You don't need to bring specialized tools to deal with one toucher. You really only need the additional healing at all if the Obs. Flesher had to go E/R to do his own recharge with Serpent's Quickness. If you have the Weapon of Quickening or the Zephyr, he'll be either Ele/Dervish with his own gobs of healing, Ele/Mesmer with Sympathetic Visage that'll make that toucher stop casting in about a second, or Ele/Monk for his own Balth's Spirit and likely some self healing.

It doesn't do much when monsters hit people for 200+. Protective Spirit is strictly better in DoA. You might still want to bring Spirit Bond, to combine with Protective Spirit, but it can't even pretend to replace the skill.
Peace,
-CxE

I'm glad, at the very least, that DoA is teaching pve monks how to use prot, as I've always found it rare in pugs I encountered.
